His message was "The big R: If you are doing the same thing now that you were doing six months ago, then you are probably not Reinventing yourself." At JES & Associates, we are constantly Reinventing ourselves. We believe that there is a major paradigm shift in how marketing will be done in the future. This belief is based upon the astonishing growth of the Internet and its' beautiful, powerful and sophisticated child, the World Wide Web. This is why we are changing the way we market our courses and services. We have replaced our 12-page (printed) newsletter with a new 4-page format. This DQU is an ASCII version of the 4-page format. In addition, all information about our courses, services and products is now available immediately in our Homes Pages on the World Wide Web, making it the best possible place to check, short of placing a phone call to our friendly staff. We realize that not everyone is on the Net. Not yet, at least. We have many easy ways of getting you the information you want. You can use the convenient Information request form at the bottom of this newsletter to inform us of your preferred method of receiving our information. Our research tells us that most people prefer to register for a course over the phoneor by FAX. If you can't pick up our Web Page, then pick up the phone and call and we'll FAX it to you. If you want, we can even (snail) mail it to you. We call it Information on Demand: You demand it, we supply it. One thing is not changing, however. We will continue to offer the best, most economical and enlightening training courses on the platforms that made us what we are today. Sisk ================ Some Things Change, Some Just Get Better ---------------------------------------- Most of our readers know that our roots are deeply entrenched in the Pick and Pick-like marketplace. We are grateful that after starting the Pick training business in 1981, we are still leading it in 1995. As it has evolved and fragmented over the years into different variants, notably uniVerse and Unidata, and the growing relationship to Unix platforms, we have evolved right along with it. We have experts from each of the specific disciplines, who are not only extremely experienced with their subject, but are dynamic and engaging in the presentation of the material and its application to your needs. We just want to say that we are commited to maintaining the excellent reputation we have developed over our first 15 years, and we plan to be here for you well into the next century. ============================================== Have You Been Entangled in the Web Yet? --------------------------------------- The World Wide Web is a new means of publishing and promoting your business. If you have seen a help screen in MS-Windows, then you're halfway there to understanding how a Web Page works. Like a help screen, a Web Page is a document that contains text and hypertext links. For example, in our Home Page, there are links to each of the course curriculums that we provide. One quick click on Pick, for example, and the Web Page containing the descriptions, locations, outlines, and all related information for Pick courses appears on your screen. You can even print a brochure-quality hard-copy on your printer. Take this concept and picture it on a global scale. Web Pages can contain text and hypertext links to other Web Pages anywhere on the planet, which are accessible as quickly as if they were on your system. That's not all. Web Pages can contain virtually any kind of other files such as graphics (pictures), sounds (the White House has a message from (current) President Clinton) or even full-motion video. And it's all transparent to the operator ("Web Surfer"), who points and clicks their way through a global database of hyper-linked documents. All this for the price of a local phone call, plus your Internet access charges, which average about $20-25US per month. Everybody's doing it, folks. There are currently an estimated 12,000 Web Sites containing more than 2 million Web Pages, and it is forecasted that there will be at least 40,000 more sites by the end of 1995. Consider that there were roughly 400 Web Sites at the end of 1993, and you begin to get the picture.
